This canvas marks the ideal introduction to Lamberto Melina's artistic universe. The painting, with its quiet female figure and the owl resting on her arm, sums up in a single glance the visual and spiritual characteristics that distinguish his work: elegance, mystery and luminosity emerging from the shadows.

Melina's sensibility is close to hyperrealism, but he interprets this realism with great freedom: his works emerge from a single layer of paint on canvas, achieved with carefully calibrated pigments and light brushstrokes, so that the surfaces are so smooth that the brushstrokes are invisible. In this way, faces, bodies and symbols do not appear as “paintings”, but as real presences, suspended in another time.
