Paolo da San Lorenzo
Painting works
Paolo da San Lorenzo's artistic research starts from the pictorial tradition of the great masters of the 20th century and traces an extremely personal itinerary: thanks to his refined technique, combined with an almost magical use of colours, Paolo da San Lorenzo succeeds in seducing the viewer in a play of emotions that pushes the imagination beyond the work itself.
Biography
Paolo da San Lorenzo was born on 13 May 1935 in San Lorenzo in Campo (PU). After his first group exhibitions held in 1956 in Rome and Pesaro, he left for Paris: this was to be the turning point for his artistic research. The French capital, and in particular its Latin Quarter, would become for him the place of initiation into post-cubism, the dominant element of his painting cycle. In 1986, he exhibited in Nice at the Palais des Expositions and continued with exhibitions all over the world from the Scandinavian Contemporary Art Forum in Stockholm to the Gaymu Inter Galerie in Paris. In 1990 he was included in the Mondadori Modern Art Catalogue. In 1995 Paolo da San Lorenzo received the 'Art and Works' lifetime achievement award in Melburne. His participations in International Art Fairs from 1999 to 2014 are endless, including Miart Milan, Arte Fiera Bologna, Arte Verona, Australian Contemporary Art Fair Melburne, St'Art Stasbourg, KunstRai Amsterdam. Today Paolo da San Lorenzo is considered by the European press to be the Master of Colour and one of the last living post-cubists.
