Gianfranco Meggiato
Sculpture works
Gianfranco Meggiato’s bronze sculptures are shimmering geometrical shapes that engage with primordial forms, hence seducing the viewer with a perfect equilibrium of surface area, volume, and elegance. These bronze creations, jewels and sculptures, reflect a modern era that rests on contradictory foundations – they are the result of the artist’s unusual impulse to explore the darkest depths of the world.
Biography
Gianfranco Meggiato was born in 1963 in the metropolitan city of Venice, where he studied stone, bronze, wood, and ceramic sculpting for five years at the Istituto Statale d’Arte. At the height of his youth, he exhibited his pieces at two group expositions in 1979 and 1984 at the Galleria Comunale Bevilacqua La Masa, a municipal art gallery in St. Mark’s square, Venice. Since 1998 he has been participating continuously in art shows, expositions, and fairs all over the world – he has thus achieved international fame, awakening the interest of preeminent European art critics, such as Vittorio Sgarbi, Paolo Levi, Abraham Lubelsky, and Tommaso Paloscia.
