This square painting presents a bird’s-eye view of a vast expanse of sea, dominated by intense shades of turquoise and blue. At the edges of the composition, strips of coastline and vegetation emerge, whilst small boats and an aeroplane introduce elements of life into the vast expanse of water. The varying shades of colour suggest seabeds, currents and shifts in light. The viewer’s gaze is thus drawn into a minimalist landscape, observed from an unusual and deeply immersive perspective.
