In Being and Time, Toni Alfano captures the ancestral power of a timeless icon. The hypnotic gaze of a Native American woman, dressed in traditional clothing, crosses the worn surface of the work, evoking a profound link between past and present. The charcoal technique, intense and vibrant, sculpts the face with an almost sculptural depth, while the descialbo reveals layers of matter and memory, as if the image had resurfaced from an ancient wall. The work thus becomes a dialogue between being and becoming, between identity and transcendence, between history and the observer's gaze.
