In his art, Pier Toffoletti constructs the image through a complex layering of materials and gestures.

The surface is never merely a support, but a living organism: sand, dust and pigments settle, overlap, are etched away and re-emerge, giving rise to a dense and vibrant pictorial surface. 

The figure emerges from this material and interacts with it, surfacing naturally, as if it had always been there beneath the surface. Colour does not merely define; it permeates, settles and reactivates every layer of the work.
