In this work, the boat – an iconic motif in Je Shen’s art – glides silently across a stretch of water immersed in an explosion of pink and coral-coloured petals. The surface emerges from the interplay between the traditional technique used for the background and the floral pattern built up drop by drop with a pipette, lending depth and an almost three-dimensional quality. The effect is striking and immersive: an image of rare delicacy that transforms the scene into a moment of pure wonder and contemplation.
