A house on a table, as if it were a serving dish is the main subject of this oil on canvas painting by German artist Matthias Brandes. Unlike the usual houses depicted by the artist, the one painted in this work is two-storeyed, the house is flanked by a tall cypress tree and three small houses float around it. The German artist's painting is motionless, a stillness disturbed only by the floating of the three houses. A languid sunset forms the background to the work and instils a sense of peace in the viewer.
