In this painting, the artist distorts the image of the house as we are used to imagining it and gives it a sense of emptiness and disorder. A scene dominated by dark, cold tones of a blue that is almost grey and dull red suspends the atmosphere and immobilises it. Only one house seems to remain truly anchored to the ground, everything else is chaotic and disorderly. A large-scale oil on canvas with great evocative charm that contains all the characteristic elements of Matthias Brandes' work.
