07_migration - Inside

In this painting, light enters through a small window and illuminates the otherwise very gloomy scene. We are not too surprised to see small habituations floating towards the centre of the painting as if they were people or animals at the end of a migration. In this medium-sized oil on canvas, German artist Matthias Brandes wants to communicate to the viewer a sense of unfinishedness that leaves us poised and invites us to reflection and introspection.
