In “Dock” by Matthias Brandes, a simple iron becomes the centerpiece, transformed into a ship that seems to be docked in an imaginary port. This surreal vision reflects the way Brandes reworks common objects, charging them with symbolic meanings. The iron, a tool of everyday domestic utility, is transformed into a motionless vessel, evoking themes such as travel and waiting. Brandes plays with the idea of weight and lightness, suggesting a metaphor about the static nature of modern life, in contrast to the desire for movement and change.
