In this composition by Chinese artist Je Shen, a golden explosion of petals painted one by one makes the surface vibrate in luminous three-dimensionality, while the two protagonists, seated on the rocks and absorbed in contemplation of the marvellous mountain landscape, transform the scene into a moment of pure suspended poetry.
