In this medium-sized work, Matthias Brandes creates an enigmatic scene in which small houses seem to “escape” from their context, rising from the ground as if to break free. The architectural forms, outlined by bold colors and soft lines, are suspended in an atmosphere of transition, where the stability of the everyday shatters. The surface of the canvas, enriched with textures and layers, gives a sense of movement and instability, as if the dwellings are about to slip away in an inexorable flight
