With the Sex Blues series, Italian artist Toni Alfano reworks the theme of his famous 'Sonatine' in an even more sensual key. The theme of the tattoo is of fundamental importance in the artist's stylistic research, analysed in its anthropological key of 'writing identity'.

The support for the artist's works is made of cardboard covered with a thin layer of cement. A slow layering of tempera recreates the effect of a presumably repainted wall. The figures are made in charcoal and bituminous enamel. The process is called Descialbo: an ancient restoration technique that consists of removing the layer of paint from the plaster with a hammer, spatula or scalpel.
