Ancient and modern times melt in this work by the Italian artist Toni Alfano. Alfano once again explores the themes of ancient Japan, but in an original way characterized by extreme technical finesse. In fact, it is the syncretism that characterizes all his "Sonatine" that strikes. The viewer is amazed by a painting, sculpture, a fragment of a Renaissance fresco "torn" from a wall, and thus to a purely western aesthetic, in contrast with the painting of an enchanting Japanese geisha in colorful traditional costumes. The final result is anything but an oxymoron, rather an extraordinary synthesis of opposites.
